Go to children in distress

MOSES LAKE-Moses Lake residents helped spread good will toward children through the American Legion’s Teddy Bear Drive last weekend.

Forty-seven motorcyclists pulled up to Pioneer Village Senior Apartments to collect more than 150 stuffed bears donated by Pioneer Village residents and staff and members of the Moses Lake community, said Jeanne O’Brien, community manager at Pioneer Village.

The bears are delivered to police officers and EMTs in the Brewster and Oroville area to give to children in distress, she said.

Forty-seven motorcyclists from American Legion posts 209, 34, 97, 9 and 84, and members of the Association of Recovering Motorcyclists and East Pierce County chapter of American Bikers Aiming Toward Education showed up to pick up and deliver the bears.

“It’s a way for Pioneer Village residents to show thanks for letting us get involved in something that’s a good cause,” said O’Brien.
