Local Chamber of Commerce leaders Linda Fergusson, Kristen Keltz and Pola Kelley from Burlington, Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley respectively along with Burlington Mayor Steve Sexton and Sedro-Woolley Chief of Police Doug Wood, attended the second anniversary party of the Satellite Branch of the Sedro-Woolley Museum housed at Country Meadow Village. Party attendees feasted on cake and ice cream after touring the museum.
Country Meadow Village Program Director David Bricka thanked Carolyn Freeman, executive director of the Sedro-Woolley Museum for embracing the idea of the satellite branch when it was initially proposed over two and a half years ago. He shared a story about a local couple that recently moved in to Country Meadow Village. Their daughter ran for Loggerodeo Queen in 1967, the Sedro-Woolley Fourth of July celebration. Each year the Loggerodeo Committee produces a program that features the candidates for queen. One morning when Bricka was opening up the museum for the day, he noticed her picture in the 1967 event program that the museum has on display! The next time she visited her folks, he showed her the personal piece of Sedro-Woolley memorabilia. It certainly brought back many good memories for her and her parents. Freeman then introduced the members of the museum board attending the party and reiterated the great partnership that has been forged between Country Meadow Village and the Museum. “The satellite branch allows us to reach out to a much larger group of people,” Freeman stated after her remarks. “It piques their interest to travel to the main branch for a tour and possibly lunch at one of our fine restaurants in town.”
To mark the special day, Country Meadow Village held a drawing featuring a photograph by local renown photographer Darius Kinsey, and an antiqued mirrored owl thermometer, a promotional piece from former Sedro-Woolley business Jake’s Wrecker Service Phone 2351. Shannon Nicholson won the Kinsey photograph and Country Meadow Village resident Jessie Miller won the thermometer. Miller and her late husband Marlin were long time volunteers at the Museum! She graciously donated her prize to the Satellite Museum.
