From August 24-26th, Port Angeles was bustling with activity as senior athletes from all over the Peninsula and Victoria B.C. competed in 14 different sports. Park View Villas was proud to be the venue for the Cribbage Competition. Saturday evening participants enjoyed a no-host bar and music while dining on stuffed salmon and all the works as Park View hosted the Celebration Banquet. See more pics here!

You’re invited to join in on the 2012 Olympic Peninsula Senior Games, happening August 24-26th! The Senior Games is all about encouraging men and women over the age of 50 to make exercise a year-round habit. Staying active and competing with others in your own age group really gets those juices flowing again. Park View will be hosting cribbage again this year! If you are interested in registering for cribbage or any of the 18 great sports, check with the Park View office or contact the Port Angeles Senior Center at (360) 457-7004.
Join Park View Villas on August 25th at 6 p.m. for the Awards Ceremony & Banquet Dinner, a night of fun hosted outside with our live band, Serendipity. A no-host bar will open at 6 p.m. and a buffet-style dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wine, beer or a non-alcoholic beverage is included with a two drink limit for only $22. Past their prime? Hardly.
Dozens of softball, track, bocce, cribbage, swimming, cycling, racquetball and bowling athletes-players in 15 different events-battled each other in good-natured competition at the 2011 Olympic Peninsula Senior Games, held Aug. 26-28 at various locales in and near Port Angeles.

In recent years, Park View Villas has made an extra effort to give back.
“The community has supported us for the last 20 years,” says Executive Director John LeClerc, so when he joined Park View Villas four years ago he wanted to return that support.
From a benefit dance in February to Santa pet pictures in December, the assisted living facility hosts community events throughout the year to raise money for local organizations.
In February, they hold the Healthy Heart Valentine’s Dance — coinciding with Healthy Heart Month — to raise money for Olympic Medical Center’s cardiac services program.
In September, they partner with the Port Angeles Fire Department to “Give Burns the Boot.” Firefighters cook a pancake breakfast and double as servers, and the money raised goes toward burn victims in Clallam County.
In October, they co-sponsor the Harvest Benefit Dinner with Crestwood Convalescent Center to support the Port Angeles Senior Center.
Last year’s event raised $3,200, which was the largest monetary donation ever made to the senior center.
Then in December, they host Santa pet pictures to benefit the Clallam County Humane Society.
“Community is important,” John says of the many events they hold.
New this year, Park View Villas will host the dinner for the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games in August, a three-day athletic competition for those 50 and older that draws hundreds of participants each year.
They are also sponsoring bocce ball and badminton for the games.
Park View Villas also provides smaller services to the community, such as conducting a blood pressure clinic every month at the senior center and holding educational seminars.
Park View Villas is a licensed assisted living facility that has been providing independent and assisted living services in Port Angeles for 20 years.
They have 87 apartments in their main building with 20 independent senior cottages on the grounds.
The staff has a long history of providing care to seniors — John has 20 years experience with assisted living facilities, while resident care director Mary Klock, a registered nurse who is certified in gerontology, has worked with seniors for more than 35 years.
With their dedication to putting residents’ needs first, Park View Villas has been voted Best Assisted Living by Peninsula Daily News readers three years in a row.
