PORT ANGELES — Three potential pig-smoochers will be raising money at the fifth annual Harvest Benefit Dinner on Saturday.

The event is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St.

Hosted by Park View Villas and Crestwood Convalescent Center, it is a fundraiser for the Port Angeles Senior Center.

There will be music by the Luck of the Draw country band, a silent auction, lots of raffle prizes and, of course, dinner.

Tempting menu

The menu includes roasted pork loin, salad, eggplant Parmesan, vegetables, butternut squash soup, pumpkin cheesecake and berry cobbler.

Tickets are $15 each, which includes the price of two drinks.

Tickets are on sale at Park View Villas, 1430 Park View Lane; Crestwood Convalescent Center, 1116 E. Lauridsen Blvd.; and the senior center, 328 E. Seventh St.

For the Kiss a Pig contest at Saturday’s dinner, three empty 2-gallon glass jars will be set up, each sporting a picture of one of the dinner’s hosts: John LeClerc, executive director of Park View Villas; Mike Jacobs, executive director of Crestwood; and D Bellamente, the senior center’s director.

The person whose jar gets the most money in donations — “the most bacon” — must splash on a layer of red lipstick and kiss a pot-bellied pig “dressed to the nines,” as Bellamente described it. The pig belongs to an anonymous supporter.

“And last year, somehow, I was the lucky winner,” Bellamente said with a laugh.

Bellamente could not estimate how much was collected from the contest alone but guessed her jar contained at least $250.

“I think it was a nice chunk of change because everyone wanted to see someone kiss that pig,” Bellamente said.

Since it began in 2008, the Harvest Benefit Dinner has raised a total of $11,771 for the senior center, she said.

For more information, phone the senior center at 360-457-7004.
