The Girls Scouts stopped by Sound Vista Village right before dinner on Tuesday- with cookies, of course! It was a good night to have dessert first.

“Sound Vista exceeded our expectations.”

Kudos to the Sound Vista Village staff! Executive Director Susan Pfundt-O’Neill received this beautifully written letter from Nick and Richele Pogreba, family of Sound Vista Village residents.

“There are a number of choices that can be made when it comes to assisted living retirement homes in the Gig Harbor area. Three years ago my father in law and I selected Sound Vista Village for he and his wife over the newer, larger, fancier facilities in that area based what we thought was more important, the fact that staff members there seemed to really care about each of their residents. I wanted to write to let you know that none of us were ever sorry we made that decision. Sound Vista Village exceeded our expectations.

Right to the end of both our parents lives, the staff there proved to be exceptional. Jenny and her team of nurses aids loved and cared for both of my in laws with such respect and understanding. My father in law out lived my mother in law by over two years. He needed and wanted his attention. During that time Shelly and every member of the dining room staff always made sure dad got his “special treats” or anything else his little heart desired. Sharon, the activity director, noticed that my father in law liked to be a helper so she was always looking for ways where he could do that. Those little jobs helped him to continue to feel useful. It was obvious that the staff of Sound Vista was on top of their game because they were always quick to take notice and deal with my in laws changing needs as their health declined. Even some of the younger members of the staff were as though they were well seasoned pros at communicating and understanding the needs of the elderly. As time went on, the staff at Sound Vista Village started to feel like family to us and we actually miss them now that we no longer have a reason to go there.

In conclusion, let me just say that we could not have chosen a finer place for our parents. Yes, Sound Vista Village may not be large, it may not be new, and it doesn’t have a lot of fancy amenities but what it does have is an outstanding staff. It is a place where our parents felt loved and where they also felt safe and comforted. It is a place where concern for your loved ones happiness and continued enjoyment of life is a top priority. Most of all, Sound Vista Village is a place where the level of care goes beyond simply what is “required”. It reaches into the heart of both the resident and their family to bring comfort to all. We just wanted to express our gratitude and let you know what a fine group of dedicated employees you have working there at Sound Vista Village. They are true experts in their field.”
